Operations at Futaba

Our operations teams are vital to our business, because without them we wouldn’t have a product to sell. From bringing raw materials into our plants and turning them into car parts, to moving them around our factories and warehouses, and ultimately shipping them to customers on time, they’re what Futaba is all about.

Join us and you’ll find a culture where we’re always looking for ways to do things better. So, we’ll listen to your ideas, support you in developing your skills and building your career, and make sure you have everything you need to perform at your best. Our Operations teams

Manufacturing

Manufacturing

Working in shifts (days and lates), our manufacturing teams make and assemble a wide range of products.

You could be loading materials and checking manufactured products from automated machines, operating large, complex presses, or making sure the right tools and materials are in place to meet the production plan. Whatever your role, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to build your career into our leadership team.

We use a variety of advanced machinery and robotics in a fast-moving environment where teamwork is key. So, you’ll find a friendly team who pull together to get everything right, every time.

Logistics

Logistics

Our logistics teams are the ones who make sure everything’s in the right place at the right time – for both our manufacturing teams and our customers.

This involves a wide range of roles. As a Minomi, forklift truck driver or crane operator, you’ll be moving materials, products and tooling around our factories and warehouses. So, you’ll play a vital role in making sure our production lines keep running effectively.

Our customers are major car manufacturers, who rely on the right parts being where they need them just in time. So, as a warehouse picker, you’ll make sure we send them the right orders each day.

Investing in your development

From apprenticeships and practical training, to personal and professional training, we’ll help you to be the best you can be. Our internal training centre - the Dojo - is where you’ll pick up all the practical and mechanical skills you need to achieve your full potential.

If you’re keen to move into leadership, we’ll give you all the support you need. At first, that might include shadowing a team leader, or taking on a few extra responsibilities to build your experience. Then, when you’re ready, we’ll give you more formal training in people management, so you have all the skills you need to make it a success.

Meet some of the team

Derek Hollywood, Manager

Derek Hollywood, Manager

What I love about working here is that it’s never boring. There are always new challenges from day to day. The people are great, too. I’ve got a close and trusting relationship with my colleagues and they always support me. Every day there’s something or someone that makes me smile. In my role, my manager gives me lots of freedom to explore new ways to improve processes and bring about change. And exposure to more of the HR elements of the business has enhanced my interpersonal skills. I think if you stick with it here, opportunities to develop and progress are always coming up.

Working here, I feel valued. My manager’s always on-hand to listen to my ideas and provide constructive feedback. And there’s a goal focussed approach that encourages you to be successful. I’ve had coaching and mentoring to develop my understanding of the business and culture. And I’ve been given the autonomy to plan, do, check and act, with guidance from my peers and managers. It’s all helped to build my confidence. I also love the flexible working hours, because it means I get a work life balance that enables me to lead a stress-free life. It really is a supportive place where you can progress your career.

What I love about working at Futaba is the opportunity for progression. I really enjoy the structure, too – I know what I’m doing on a daily basis. Having said that, there are lots of different jobs within the department, which means there’s plenty of variety. So, I’m never doing the same thing. And I really appreciate Futaba’s supportive culture. The HR department gave me a lot of personal support following a family bereavement. If you come here with the right mind-set, you’ll be made to feel welcome, so you’ll fit right in and enjoy yourself.
